The Best Places To Wine Down in Des Moines

Whether you are looking to relax after a long day at the office, need a creative idea for a date, or are simply looking for a serene environment for a fun day out with your friends, there’s nothing that brightens your day like a great glass of wine. Although this isn’t quite Sonoma, France or Italy, we are lucky enough to have some fantastic local wineries in Des Moines. Make sure to visit each and every one of these fine wineries the next time you’re in need of a glass of vino.

Jasper Winery

Moments away from downtown you will find the dazzling estate-style Jasper winery right in the heart of the metro area. The crafters of Jasper specialize in making premium quality wines using grapes that have been sourced throughout central Iowa. Unlike many wineries, Jasper is actually open seven days a week so you have plenty of opportunities to enjoy a tasting or relax and enjoy yourself in their dining room.

Vines To Wines

For a more interactive experience venture over to the Vines To Wines winery where you will get to enjoy being a part of the process of making your own wine. At Vines To Wines, they understand that the most important component of developing a high-quality wine begins with the quality of the grapes. Their grapes are sourced from all over the world and blended together with artisanal craftsmanship.

Summerset Winery

Just a few minute’s drive outside of Des Moines, located in Indianola, is where you will find the stunning Summerset winery. Here they produce award winning Iowa wine from locally grown central Iowa groups. Tastings and tours are offered frequently so you have plenty of chances to take in the natural splendor of this beautiful site. In fact, it is so beautiful here that this has become one of the most popular wedding venues in the area.

La Vida Loca Winery

This family-owned winery is well known for its award-winning and rather creative wines. Anytime that you are in search of a fine glass of wine this is the perfect oasis away from the stresses of the city. You can taste and sample all of their wines throughout their regular hours from Tuesday through Sunday and make sure to bring home bottles of your favorites before they are no longer available. You’ll certainly enjoy the friendly and informative staff that is always happy to answer any of your questions about the winery, their process, or how to get the most out of a glass of wine.
